For youthworkers, coaches, teachers, and any adult who cares about kids

HURT Seminars
The HURT Community seminars are designed to help anyone who works with or in the service of adolescents to understand who they are and how they think in today's changing culture. It is based on the latest research on adolescent development, family and social systems, and the rapidly-changing environment that every student faces. Each seminar is specifically tailored to meet the needs and interests of a given community or hosting organization, and wraps us with specific, doable, and encouraging responses to the needs of adolescents in your home town and organization/institution.
»COMMUNITY "TOWN HALL" SEMINAR«
This seminar is specifically targeted at a broad range of adults and organizations - educators, social workers and government officials, counselors and therapists, youth workers and parents - to provide them with the training they need to understand the contemporary adolescent experience. As caring men and women from various institutions and organizations gather together to wrestle with what life is like for their young people, they are able to work together to undo the implicit tragedy of what our systemic, culture-wide neglect has put kids through.
The seminar features dynamic and thought-provoking presentation methods designed to draw all participants into the changing landscape of today's adolescent culture. This shared knowledge serves as a springboard for sessions designed to assist communities in the development and implementation of strategies that will help connect adult and teen populations.
» CHURCH-BASED SEMINAR«
This seminar provides churches training and tools they need to understand the adolescent experience and help them to more fully assimilate and integrate their students into the full life of the church family.
Grounded in a solid theology of church life and community, the seminar helps men and women to grapple with their own fears regarding our changing world, and allows for them to recognize and address how these fears get passed down the kids that God is calling each of us to serve, nurture, embrace, and love. Specific application strategies and tips will provide the hope that adults in today's society so desperately need in learning how to serve this so highly misunderstood and abandoned generation.
»WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING«
"I just wanted to say thank you again for increasing public awareness of the plight of our kids. We have a lost generation, buried under a landfill of stress and dysfunction. I've been a psych nurse for 15 yrs. I work in a comprehensive psychiatric emergency room. Everyday I triage kids whose repeated theme is, I don't want to be in this world anymore, noone cares. The most frustrating part is exactly what you spoke of in your seminar. Society has created the mess, but it expects the kids to make sense of it in order to survive. I loved your seminar. It was very validating, as sometimes I feel like I'm spitting in the wind, trying to get parents to identify the real issue. " -Lorraine A Frontale, Psychiatric Nurse
"I am not just saying this, but the program this morning was THE BEST professional development program that I can ever remember. I brought a lot of stuff home with me. There was a lot of food for thought that I never really considered before. I did not notice anyone doodling during the talk or drifting off to sleep. I think that he held everyone's attention. He was informative, witty, and thought provoking. What an experience." -Counselor from Birdville Independent School District in Fort Worth
"I am writing to affirm the contribution of [our speaker] to our faculty and staff during our retreat yesterday. Our theme was "Understanding Today's Student," and he did a masterful job of combining theory, illustrations, questions, and discussion. I have already heard many positive comments." - Dr. Howard Keim, Hesston College's President College President
"It was an incredible time for my teaching staff. We sometimes get caught up in the teaching and lose touch with our students and where they are as teens and [the speaker] gave us useful tools and information to help us teach them on their level." -James German, Principal at Whiteside ISD
